A powerhouse prestigious, smaller Atlanta corporate law firm is seeking an exceptional Senior Legal Assistant/Practice Group Manager to provide strategic operational support to a team of high-performing rainmaker partners. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced legal executive assistant, practice coordinator, COO, or chief of staff to become an indispensable business partner within one of the firm's most successful practice groups.


In this highly visible role, you will serve as the operational backbone of the practice, ensuring partner time, client engagements, financial management, and day-to-day operations are executed with precision. Approximately 50% of the position is dedicated to managing complex partner calendars, protecting the partners' most valuable resource—their time—while anticipating needs, eliminating obstacles, and enabling them to focus on client service and business development.

Key Responsibilities:

Partner Time Management & Strategic Support

  • Manage complex, high-volume partner calendars, aligning schedules with client priorities, revenue-generating activities, business development, firm leadership, and community commitments

  • Anticipate scheduling conflicts and proactively resolve competing priorities

  • Serve as the primary gatekeeper for partner time, ensuring optimal use of capacity and focus

  • Prepare partners for meetings, presentations, and client engagements through thoughtful planning and coordination

Client & Business Development Support

  • Coordinate logistics for client meetings, presentations, and business development initiatives

  • Serve as a central point of coordination for client-facing activities, ensuring responsiveness and seamless follow-through

  • Support partners in maintaining proactive, high-touch client relationships

  • Assist with special projects and strategic initiatives that support practice growth

  • Practice Group Operations

  • Provide day-to-day operational support for the practice group to ensure efficient execution across attorneys and staff

  • Coordinate workflows, deadlines, and priorities among attorneys, paralegals, and administrative professionals

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency, and enhance client service delivery

  • Track ongoing initiatives to ensure timely completion and accountability

Financial & Matter Management

  • Assist partners with matter budgeting, forecasting, and financial tracking

  • Support the preparation and management of client budgets and financial expectations

  • Monitor billing accuracy, attorney time entry, collections, and compliance with firm billing practices

  • Prepare financial reports and performance summaries for partner review

  • Partner with the firm's finance team to ensure alignment between client expectations, legal work, and billing activities

Project Management & Execution

  • Track critical deadlines, priorities, and action items across multiple matters

  • Drive execution of projects and initiatives while ensuring nothing falls through the cracks

  • Maintain organization across numerous competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

  • 5–8+ years of experience supporting senior executives, equity partners, or other high-performing professionals within a law firm or professional services environment

  • Demonstrated success managing complex calendars and competing priorities under pressure

  • Experience supporting legal billing, budgeting, financial reporting, or practice management functions

  • Exceptional organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills

  • Outstanding attention to detail with the ability to anticipate needs and proactively resolve issues

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the organization

  • High degree of professionalism, discretion, sound judgment, and confidentiality

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn firm technology platforms

  • Medical, dental and vision insurance coverage; firm contributes $1088/mo towards health benefits per employee, which usually covers an employee at 100%

  • 401(k), with law firm contribution of 3% starting after one year at the firm

  • Profit sharing contributions offered to all employees starting after two years at the firm
